Watersports

Enjoy a day canoeing the beautiful Ocmulgee. If you have your own canoe and gear, consider putting in off of the Highway 18 under the S.A. Hodge, Sr. Bridge and float down to the Spring St. boat ramp. This trip is about 6 hours.

If you’d like a shorter trip, or you need gear, contact Ocmulgee Expeditions. For a very reasonable price, Muddy Water Tours will pick you up at Spring St., provide you with canoes and gear, transport you to a put in at Water Works park and then pick up your gear at Spring St. The paddle from Water Works to Spring St. is about 2.5 hours.

Biking

The trail is a great place to ride your bike. In addition to the paved sections of trail, you should also consider a ride down the top of the levee beside Central City Park. In addition, the trail provides a great connection to downtown. Consider riding along the trail and taking a short trip over to downtown for lunch or dinner (downtown businesses). You can also park your bike on Cherry St. and enjoy an afternoon shopping downtown.

You should also consider riding on the newest section of trail along Clinton St. and into the Ocmulgee National Monument. Park your bike at the visitor’s center and spend the day exploring 12,000 years of history.  The Ocmulgee National Monument is one of only two or three locations on the North American continent where modern man has had continuous, documented habitation since the last Ice Age over 12,000 years ago!
