The trail is currently managed by a structure of volunteer boards supported by the staff of NewTown Macon. The NewTown Macon Board delegates management authority for the trail to the Trail Executive Committee, chaired by Chris Sheridan. This Board is supported by the Trail Technical Committee, chaired by Bill Hodges, which handles most day to day operations of the trail. Members of these boards can be found at the bottom of this page. Lastly, an interested group of community volunteers provides support and advice through the Friends of the Trail organization. Eventually, NewTown hopes to transfer all management responsibilities for the trail to an independent non-profit corporation.
The Trail is maintained by several different groups. Parts of the trail owned by the city are maintained by the Parks and Recreation Department. All other parts of the trail are maintained by landscapers under contract by NewTown Macon. The most important maintenance on the trail, however, is performed by conscientious users who leave the trail in better condition than they found it by removing debris and depositing trash in receptacles.
